Release notes

FolderNode features and details.

Explore supported actions, file formats, and limitations to keep in mind.

What it does

Nine actions: resize, convert and compress images; rename files; compress and convert video; extract thumbnails; remove audio; sort files. Connect actions visually and reuse saved workflows. Free allows 10 files per run and 1 saved workflow.

Video formats and quality

MP4 and MOV use H.264 through macOS VideoToolbox. WebM uses VP9/Opus. GIF and JPEG/PNG/WebP thumbnails are supported. Input compatibility depends on the codec, not just the extension. AV1 is not supported in this build.

MP4/MOV conversion targets 6 Mbps; compression presets target 6, 3 or 1.5 Mbps. Quality and size vary by input, and output can be larger. VideoToolbox must initialize successfully for H.264 encoding.

Files and cancellation

Processing is designed to produce copies and protect original files and existing outputs. Review your output settings and keep backups of important files. Image actions may discard metadata such as EXIF. Folder inputs process top-level files.

Cancellation is monitored during encoding. GIF palette preparation and thumbnail processing may need to finish first. Completed outputs remain; temporary output for the current operation is removed when the flow ends. Automatic updates are not implemented.

Platform and third-party software

Built for Mac with Apple Silicon. Intel Macs are not supported.

Video processing uses a limited LGPL build of FFmpeg 9.0.1. Third-party notices and source availability · Download
